Simply the Best 2016: Sammy’s Top Reads of the Year – and a Giveaway

Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone, and welcome to the first of our final Best of 2016 book picks, this one from our very own Sammy. She’s written her own little intro to her list, so I’ll let her take it away!

2016 was a banner year for this reviewer for many reasons.  It is true for many who read this genre that it offers us so many bright literary moments when our own lives may not be quite as shiny, and this really is the role of good fiction in our lives—to lift us out of the troubles and problems in our own lives and transport us to places where we can escape into fantasy, horror, mystery, and yes, sweet romance. This year saw many satisfying sequels to series that are simply top-notch and those authors—Kaje Harper, John Goode and Edmond Manning—did an outstanding job evolving their amazing series just that one step further, keeping us highly entertained and emotionally satisfied.

It was an amazing year, and I want to personally thank all the authors who gave us the fruits of their hard work, all so that we could enjoy being taken away from our simple lives and swept into their vivid imaginations to experience some literary bliss.

Here is my top ten—in no certain order.  I hope you enjoy(ed) them as much as I did.

  3. Lou Harper is an author that is not technically new to me, but I have found a newfound love of her works this year. I read Spirit Sanguine for a challenge, and despite not really liking vampire stories, absolutely loved it. Shortly after, I read Last Stop, Dead in LA and Secrets and Ink, all of which I really enjoyed as well.

  4. I think I answered this a couple of times already. My initial response is that most of us commenting would find it hard to limit our faves. I will however go for Tal Bauer who has instantly become a must-buy author.
