Blurb: I was an average man, not at all violent, until a bastard tricked my best friend into killing my lover, Mick. When that happened, with my best friend in prison for life, I took things into my own hands and killed the bastard.
Not too soon after, a man contacted me. The man Mick had worked for — as a vigilante. He convinced me to take Mick’s place, once I’d been trained to do what Mick had done.
I did. Now I’m a not so average man who might, just might, be falling in love with another vigilante. Coop Frost, to be exact. That is, if we can survive what comes next.
Review: After the death of Mick, Zane’s lover, Zane seeks revenge. He’s learned enough from Mick to kill the main person responsible—and once that’s taken care of, Zane leaves town, changes his identity and start’s a new life. But, someone knows how to track him down.
Reynolds, who was Mick’s boss, knows Zane has some valuable skills. He contacts Zane and makes a proposal to him to join the organization of contract vigilantes. They take care of people who are a cause of death and/or destruction and are untouchable by the law.
Angel is the first that Reynolds pairs Zane with, and he’s put through rigorous training. From there he goes out on his first job with Angel. As Zane becomes more proficient, he’s teamed up with Coop. Coop and Zane become a solid team and are sent out on some violent and dangerous missions. Coop and Zane both have their reasons for doing what they do. Coop understands and has compassion for Zane.
Edward Kendrick hooked me again with this intriguing story about how lives change after a tragedy. Zane, Coop and Angel each have their own personal stories about why they got involved with Reynolds. Zane really stood out in his struggles: Mick’s death as well as his concern about his job at the bar. Not Your Average Man does contain violence, but that’s what makes this a thriller with a lot of intense moments.
