Blurb: No amount of distraction can keep Nick and John from each other; time hasn’t dimmed the heat between them. That doesn’t mean a frustrated, angry ghost isn’t going to try, and she won’t hesitate to do whatever it takes to force Nick to help her, no matter whose life she endangers.
Worried about John’s injured hand, guilty that his ability to see ghosts is disturbing their peace again, Nick’s torn between wanting to help this ghost and wishing her far away.
As events spiral out of control, they’re about to discover which is stronger; love or obsession.
For their sake, love needs to win.
Review: This novella was written as a part of the birthday celebration for this series, which first came out ten years ago. It is a wonderful story, reminding us of the romance between these two men. However, you do not have to read the original trilogy, as this book can stand on its own as a great paranormal, cozy romance.
John and Nick have been together for years. Life has gotten comfortable on their little Scottish island, and their sex is as hot as ever. The peace is shattered when John crushes his hand and has to go to the hospital off island for surgery. Nick is frantic and thoughts of losing John become a reality he doesn’t want to deal with. They are supposed to have years yet with each other—John can’t die on him.
John recovers but unfortunately, they pick up a ghost and bring her home with them when it is time for John to be discharged. This ghost is none too happy to be dead and wants her life and her husband back, no matter what. If haunting Nick and forcing him to raise her beloved from the afterlife is what it takes, well, that is what she will do and damn the consequences. John and Nick are into their bucket list years, and the idea of dealing with another ghost is tedious. Love Strong as Death is about enduring love, selfless love, and how it can sometimes border on obsession.
The authors have done an incredible job revisiting these characters and bringing their love story back to life. This novella fits in seamlessly with the original trilogy and gives us another glimpse at John and Nick, their abilities and their unwavering devotion to each other. I love the way Jane Davitt and Alex Snow collaborate. Their verbiage and plots are always spot on and a joy to read.
“We’ll see what the doctor says,” John suggested. Little as the idea of skiing appealed to him personally—he suspected it was likely to end in uncoordinated disaster—what did appeal was the smile he imagined on Nick’s face, cheeks flushed with cold. Brushing snow out of his hair before kissing him—aye, he’d enjoy that part well enough.
I highly recommend it!
