Review: Mark and Scott are best friends; from their days at the police academy, they’ve always been there for each other. When Scott gets married, when he has a daughter, when Scott needs help with putting stuff together, they are a team. Then, after eight years and a national tragedy, they become something more.

For years, they go through other relationships: Mark gets married twice, and Scott gets divorced, but the one constant is their friendship—which is much deeper than anyone suspects. Through near misses, career changes and health scares, they have each other’s backs. At some point, they realize that together is where they are meant to be.

I am a fan of this author’s work across various genres, and For the Last Time makes this no exception. While I know some will, of course, have big problems with the way this relationship plays out while these men are involved with other people, I thought the author handled the situation realistically. While not ideal, I don’t believe that these men set out to do anything except get through life the best way possible. But after more than twenty years, they have finally come to the realization that they can, and should, do it together. I liked seeing them get their happily-ever-after. :)
