Blurb: Destiny rewards those who embrace it.
Chris and his alien soul matches, Lasar and Nary, are ready to deepen their new bond as mates. It’s also time for Chris to begin his training as a Nasha, or sub, and for Nary to embrace his new role as Ahna, or Dom, to Chris. As three in the soul match, they are unique. Not only have Alasharians never matched with a human, they’ve never matched as three.
What makes them special also puts them in danger. The Supreme Healer warned Chris that many changes were ahead, ones even more startling than the original invasion. They must keep their match a secret until they know who they can trust.
As Ahna to both Nary and Chris, Lasar carries the responsibility of protecting his mates. A proud Alasharian warrior and commander, he’ll stop at nothing to keep them safe and to help Chris find his missing mother and sisters. To make sure that Chris’ cousin Morgan isn’t returned to the slave cages, he’s also arranged for a fellow commander to take Morgan into his care when he returns from battle.
Lasar and Nary are invited to a pleasure party by the Alasharian’s leader, the Nall, and are forced to bring Chris and Morgan. But a terrifying turn of events sets in motion what might be the beginning of the end for them all, unless they can resist the void.
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of dubious consent, non-consent and violence.
Review: The first book in this series, Slave for Two, explores what happens when an alien race comes to Earth and begins to take it over. This second book explores the relationship between one of the humans captured—Chris—and his newly found Alasharian mates, Lasar and Nary. This book focuses more on Chris and his connection to the Alasharians, particularly his role as the first human mate. His connection to Lasar and Nary grows, as do his visions of the Void and his concern about the Nall.
This is the book where Lasar, Nary, and Chris’s relationship really starts to shine as they learn more about what it is like to be part of a triad rather than a couple. For Chris, he is learning what it means to be a Nasha to both Lasar and Nary. Nary, on the other hand, has only been Nasha to Lasar, and he is now learning his role as Ahna to Chris. As such, he is the middle ground between the two. Lasar, while familiar with being Ahna, is trying to balance his relationship to two Nashas. It’s overwhelming for all of them, but they find a way to deal with it as they test the strength of their bonds.
BDSM does play a role in their relationship, and this is relatively new to Chris. Because of that, there isn’t as much compared to Morticia Knight’s other books (if you are familiar with them), but it is there. There is also a bit of dubious consent present on the sidelines, regarding a party the boys must attend; however, it is brief.
I loved this book. I really like the path it is taking, and I’m curious to know what exactly is going on with the Nall. The author leaves off with a bit of a cliffhanger, and I eagerly await the next book. There are so many questions left unanswered, and each book reveals more. I also want to see the next step in the boys’ relationship. How will those around them react? Will Chris get to be with his family again? What will happen to Lasar’s sister, who is Nasha to the Nall?
If you are a fan of science fiction and like aliens in your books, I recommend this series. Fans of BDSM will likely enjoy it as well. This is the second book in a series, as it ties directly to the events of the first book; as such, I recommend reading the first book before picking up this one.
