I’ve been a banker, lawyer, professor, cop, student, bike designer, physicist, chef, horse breeder, a cowboy, computer geek and anything you can think of. It’s not that I can’t decide what I want to be. All these job are due to my one true love and profession.
I’m a writer.
Being a writer I have to wear many hats. My characters come from various walks of life and have so many professions. In order to write then I must basically walk a mile in their shoes. Become them. There are so many layers to create an character.
Their professions is only one part of it. To create truly believable characters I must use all those pieces to bring them to life. With that I get to be all the things I mentioned above and so much more. This is a job that I love.
Writing enables me to explore professions I don’t do myself. I get to learn about them. Get too experienced them by talking or doing some of them with people who do the job.
My versatile profession as a writer brings this all to me. There is nothing better in the world that getting to explore so many fields.
I’m always looking for another profession to add to my writing resume. What are some of your professions you’ve held?
