Blurb: Nine and a half weeks ago, Joe Massone got the surprise of his life when his straight best friend and secret crush, Adam, kissed him. At the time, Adam was recovering from an accident that left him with temporary amnesia and broken ribs, so Joe isn’t sure if he should take it seriously. Is Adam really gay? Or was the blow to his head to blame? Having secretly loved Adam since they were teenagers, Joe doesn’t want to get his hopes up and have his heart broken.
Despite that first kiss, Joe and Adam are still in limbo—now more than friends, but not quite lovers. Adam’s injuries have meant they can’t take their relationship to the next level, and for Joe, not much has changed from when they were just best friends and roommates. He starts to think neither of them is ready to take that final step.
Patience stretched to the limit, Adam makes plans to break the stalemate. But when Joe sabotages things by inviting their friends along, Adam is left to wonder if their new relationship is over before it’s even started. Before he gives up, though, he’s determined to prove to Joe he wants more than just a kiss.
Review: I think having a childhood friend that declares their undying love for you is everyone’s fantasy. For me, it would be that boy who was there from the beginning, the one who knows you inside and out. For me, When Adam Kissed Me is the ultimate fantasy. There have been countless books written along these lines, but I don’t care because I’m a sucker for these stories. When Adam Kissed Me melted my heart, and I wanted Adam to kiss me.
When Adam Kissed Me is a super sweet novella about two childhood friends, Joe and Adam. The boys meet young and become fast friends. There’s an instant connection. Later on, when Joe is a teen, he realizes that the feelings he has for Adam is love, but there’s a problem: he is gay and Adam is straight. Joe is afraid that Adam will reject him, but Adam accepts him because he loves him too. It takes Adam a long time to come to terms with the type of love he feels for Joe.
All through college and after, Joe and Adam are together as friends. They live together and work together. Joe can’t get close to any other guy because Adam is always his emotional rock, and Adam doesn’t feel close to any of the girls he dates either. They live in a state of flux.
The story is told partly through flashbacks. I love books that go back and forth. I feel like I’m reliving the events with the characters. Events lead up to Adam confronting his feeling for Joe and right after, there is a tragedy that finally brings them together.
I loved Joe and Adam as a couple. Their relationship was very realistic, and I could see two guys acting the same way they did, and hide their feelings. The emotion between them jumped off the page. Yes, and when they finally do the deed it was hot-hot-hot and funny. Sex scenes are more believable when there is some humor involved because in real life you just laugh at some things!!!
The supporting cast was top notch. Joe’s family is your typical Italian family. From early on they took Adam as one of their own. Their mutual friends are friends you’d want to have in your life. For me, the book hit all my emotional points. Yes, I loved it. When Adam Kissed Me is a perfect snuggle book, heartwarmingly sweet and hotly sexy. It will make you want to have an Adam in your life.
