“If you are looking for a great mystery, you can’t go wrong with Pretty Boy Dead. The police procedure seemed to be spot on, and the personal relationships were very well fleshed out.” – Jackie McKenzie, The Novel Approach
What’s new with the release of the 2nd edition of my police-procedural murder mystery/thriller, Pretty Boy Dead? I’m very excited to share that the debut novel in the Kendall Parker Mystery series is returning to publication via Lethe Press, an independent publishing house specializing in speculative fiction and books of queer interest. Publisher and author Steve Berman has graciously offered to bring back Pretty Boy Dead, both in print and e-book.
The cover was designed by the multi-talented, Elizabeth Legget. Also available for the first time will be an audio version of the novel, narrated by the incredible, award winning voice actor Jason Frazier. The print version is available for pre-order via Lethe Press; e-book will be follow later, along with audio.
Here is a brief synopsis of Pretty Boy Dead from Bob Lind with Echo Magazine:
A body is found in an Atlanta park, the victim of a horrific gay bashing, and it is identified as “black sheep” son of a rich tycoon, who had been working as a stripper (and possibly prostitute) for a local organized crime figure. Assigned to the case is closeted Detective Sgt. Kendall Parker, recently returned from a leave recovering from an accident that was fatal to a friend. There is no shortage of fingers being pointed at possible killers with various motives, including a city councilman who was photographed with the stripper. The pressure on the police to solve the crime is turned up by an aggressive newspaper columnist who seems to be on a personal vendetta against Parker.
“Pretty Boy Dead is amazingly good – and one of the best gay mysteries I’ve read in a long time. It leaps ahead of so many books in this genre on the strength of its suspense and depth of its characters, and stayed with me long after the last chapter. Highly recommended for those who like swift, compelling stories.” – Chris Beakey, author of Lambda Literary finalist Double Abduction
