Love makes you learn where all the pitfalls are, and how to avoid them, or how to set them off.” ― Laurell K. Hamilton
In Corruption, the third book in Eden Winter’s Diversion series, we once again get to spend some quality time with Bo and Lucky. If you have read the first two books in the series, then you know these two men have had a rough road both personally and professionally. It has seemed in the past that they drew strength from one another, but it seems that as much as their differences pull them together, they could end up pushing them apart.
Bo has been going through specialized training to hone his undercover skills and it seems these classes come to a close just in the nick of time. It appears there has been a huge influx of a designer drug in the Atlanta area and they need to get someone on the inside of a biker gang they believe is the culprit. Lucky watches Bo slip into the persona of Cyrus Cooper effortlessly and this brings some of Lucky’s shortcomings to his own attention.
Over the course of the case Bo slips deeper and deeper into the seedy underbelly of the biker gang and uses his fists to work his way up to Enforcer, basically second in command. Lucky uses his skills to get hired on as a driver for the bikers, learning the ins and outs of how they move the drugs. He watches the man he thought he knew get in so deep he doesn’t know who he will be getting back after the op is complete.
Lucky watches Bo change and he doesn’t know how to handle these changes in his lover. Any kind of change usually has Lucky heading for the hills. When Bo shares his hopes for the future Lucky balks and that momentary slip could cost him everything.
I have to say that I loved the new, more assertive Bo that Eden Winters wrote in this story. He seems to have found his niche and it was amazing to watch. In contrast, the cocksure Lucky is brought down a few pegs and has a hard time living with the fact that he may not be the best agent and he may not be what is best for Bo.
Watching these two sort out both their professional and personal changes was an exhilarating ride. Reading about Bo strutting in his gang leathers and riding his Harley like he was born to it….HOT!!! I have always been more partial to Lucky in the first two books, but I have to say, seeing this other side of Bo…just wow. Lucky seemed to lose a little of his swagger for a while, but his instincts are still sharp and he proves he will do anything for the very few people that matter in life.
We are introduced to some new agents in this book and some restructuring that is sure to bring some wonderful drama to the next book in the series. Close to the end there is one character introduced that will knock your socks off. When I read it I had a true “What the……” moment!
I loved this installment of the Diversion series, and it set us up perfectly for the fourth book. This is one story that is not to be missed. If you haven’t read the first two books, you could read this one and enjoy it but to get the full effect, I recommend reading the entire series. You will not be disappointed.
